Standing Together: A Vigil of Interfaith Friendship

Portland Rizwan Mosque

The divisiveness continues as politicized religious groups continue to oppose the rights of American people of the Muslim faith to practice where they wish. Even while Feisal Abdul Rauf, imam of the Farah mosque in Lower Manhattan, explains his group's peaceful plans to continue with building their NYC community center, an evangelical church out of Florida intends to hold an international "Burn the Koran" day on September 11.

In response to this church's attempt to create division and discord among people of different faiths, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is hosting this interfaith event. Portland area interfaith leaders will be there, including Kyogen Carlson of Dharma Rain Zen Center.
