Streamers red and gold against a hot blue sky
beside dry evergreens in a world changing.
Thirteen fragile, strong bodies, young visionaries
hang off the bridge with faux-Gothic green arches
saying, “Save the Arctic,” saying we can stop this,
saying it is possible to change the course of one ship
with imagination, planning, hard work. If this is possible,
then what else may come?

May they be safe. We bow in gratitude,
 hands in lotus position
over hearts full of admiration.
Audacious, their belief in possibility. Stoic,
their friends’ endurance on the bridge.
We bow, we bow to them.
We bow again and again.
